JOB SUMMARY
Purchasing Supervisor
Responsible for purchasing, supplier performance, on-time schedule completion and raw inventory control.
Manages purchasing and dispatching process including purchase planning, distribution planning,
MRP database management, inventory management and quality improvement at suppliers.
Complete purchases launch activities and order fulfillment corrective actions. Contributes to supplier evaluation
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Provides for purchase order on time filling of MRP demand requirements & purchase requisitions.
Plans Production purchasing, establishing inventory levels and recommending supplier capacities based on sales forecasts.
Oversees monitoring of supplier acknowledgments and purchase order fulfillment status. Obtains corrective action
to ensure purchase orders are filled as specified. Provides training to orient new suppliers to the order fulfillment process.
Develops and implements changes to improve the order fulfillment for purchased goods & services including
MRP database management, process improvements and linking with Companies systems and initiatives.
Oversees the database management including loading and maintenance to provide for accurate and efficient purchase
order processing and manufacturing order dispatching.
Participates in Supplier partnership reviews of supplier relationship focusing on order fulfillment issues.
Supervises department operations by participating in budget preparation and performance management including staffing,
ROI's and performance reviews. Conducts staff meetings, as needed. Solicits ideas and suggestions for improving departmental
processes.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
B.A. Business Administration or equivalent
C.P.M. Certified Purchasing Manager (I.S.M.) or achievement in three years
SKILL REQUIREMENTS (Technical, Communication, Interpersonal, etc.)
Requires strong leadership and coaching abilities
Must be self motivated with high tolerance for stress
Knowledge of Companies products
Knowledge of manufacturing processes.
Knowledge of how to work successfully with Vecta suppliers
Knowledge of PIC using MAPICS
Requires strong knowledge of the order fulfillment process from receipt of PO through shipping.
Knowledge of MRP database and customer specifying applications.
Knowledge of purchasing inventory systems
Knowledge of suppler capabilities and evaluation of performance
Knowledge of the sales order process in build to order environment
Knowledge of lean manufacturing
5-8 years purchasing experience in manufacturing
Minimum of 3 years supervisory experience.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Primarily office environments with travel to supplier locations required.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY
Direct supervision of 5 buyers and planner/dispatchers
