Materials Planner/Buyer

A challenging, high profile opportunity with a Tier I Automotive Supplier. This company is one of the largest Tier I suppliers in the US, offering unlimited opportunity for growth and advancement.

BASIC FUNCTION:Works under direct supervision of the Materials Manager interfacing closely with Production Control.

SPECIFIC DUTIES:
1. Interfaces with Production Control to determine production requirements relating to raw material, purchased parts, and packaging. Scheduling same in conjunction with weekly production schedules and expedites purchased items as necessary. Scheduling responsibilities for carrier pick-ups. Establishes and maintains pricing standards, lead-time data, etc. for purchased parts. Analyses shortages for resolution. Supervises delivery program, resolves unsatisfactory delivery schedules or problems with production quality of items. Direct buying responsibility of commodities assigned.
2. Sources and purchases all miscellaneous items not falling under direct Materials Manager responsibility.
3. Edits, requisitions, and confers with departments regarding requirement specifications, quantity and quality of merchandise and delivery requirements.
4. Interviews vendors and maintains highest degree of relations between Company and all levels of supplier personnel.
5. Performs lead function in MQR process. Works with SQA to track supplier performance.
6. Works as part of team in development and implementation of new programs.
REQUIREMENTS
Prefer a BS or BA Degree and a minimum of 3 years of similar experience in a manufacturing environment.
