Materials Manager

Tasks and Responsibilities:
Under the supervision of the Vice President of Operations, this position is responsible for:

1.Managing the Purchasing and Inventory Control Functions
2.Providing support to production scheduling on all material flow issues.
3.Interface with production coordinators on the planning of customer orders to meet shipments.
4.Directing and formulating policies and procedures to make certain materials are available or delivered when needed.
5.Supervising and streamlining all receiving and material handling functions within the plant
6.Insuring accuracy of perpetual inventory records and monitoring inventory levels.
7.Recommending methods of improving efficiency and reducing inventory of raw materials and work in process while maintaining a high level of on time delivery performance
8.Reporting materials costs and variances to senior management
9.Implementing aggressive vendor follow up programs
10.Monitoring external factors which may affect cost and/or availability of raw materials and developing plans to minimize those impacts
11.Ensuring availability of materials and supplies to support operations
12.Troubleshooting material availability problems with production and taking corrective action
13.Coordinating with engineering and production on materials sourcing matters such as materials cost, quality, and delivery
REQUIREMENTS
Skills, Qualifications and Experience:
This position requires:
·BS or BA in business or management, an MBA is desirable.
·5-8 years related experience
·Proficiency in standard office computer tools
·Knowledge of effective team-building approaches and team dynamics
·Demonstrated ability in analytic thinking
·Demonstrated management and conflict resolution skills
·Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing principles and methods including just-in-time, kanban systems and 5-S.
·Bilingual English/Spanish a big plus.
