Lead Distributed DB2 UDB DBA

Prestigious Fortune 500 Company located in Chicago’s Northwest Suburbs is currently seeking a Lead Distributed DB2 UDB DBA on top of Unix. Any AIX or Peoplesoft experience is a huge plus. Candidates responsibilities are as follows:

• Provide technical leadership to the application development teams throughout the life cycle of assigned projects. Maintain expertise in several DBMS, data modeling and logical and physical database design.
• Submit estimates on resources for new projects. Track individual tasks of other Database Management staff assigned to the project. Resolve technical issues related to the implementation of the DBMS (software releases, tools, and capacity planning, backup and recovery strategies). Participate in the design of the logical and physical data models and the application code to ensure optimal performance of the system.
• Support the business system to maintain the availability and integrity of corporate data during and outside of normal working hours. Ensure compliance monitoring is in place, including processes for management of operational risk, in accordance with regulatory standards.
REQUIREMENTS
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent with a major or minor in Computer Science or related field
• 5+ years database related experience
• Five years experience administering a DBMS with UDB DB2 experience on an AIX platform required
• Recognition as a technical resource
• Specialized experience with physical and logical database design is highly desired
• Techniques for application system design
• Expertise in SQL programming
• Applied knowledge of three or four DBMS is a plus
