Director of Purchasing / Fulfillment


A leading distributor of consumer products located in a northern suburb of Chicago is seeking a Director of Purchasing/Fulfillment. Our client is a mid-size company with an aggressive growth plan. This is a key hands-on executive position reporting to the CEO/Owner. As a senior management executive, the Director of Purchasing/Fulfillment will work closely with the management team to ensure that purchasing, inventory, and fulfillment strategies are successfully implemented.


Responsibilities include:

• Manage inventory levels to achieve company turn and fill rate targets
• Develop purchasing strategies for all products
• Establish and manage vendor relationships
• Direct warehouse and shipping operations
• Work collaboratively with Sales and Marketing to ensure alignment of product level forecasts and promotions
• Direct liquidation of obsolete and slow-moving inventory to maximize return

REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications for this position include:

• BA/BS required
• Minimum 5 years relevant purchasing (both domestic and international), inventory management and fulfillment experience.
• Demonstrated track record in a high volume pick, pack, and ship environment with a high level of SKU’s
• Proven budgeting, analytical, organizational, and leadership skills
• Excellent communication skills
• Adept in using MS Office Word and Excel.
