Safety Specialist & IH
Cytec Engineered Materials is a global technology leader in advanced materials for aerospace and other extreme-demand environments. Cytec’s facility in Anaheim, CA is searching for an ES&H Specialist, for immediate consideration, to assist the SHE Manager in further development and overall implementation of the ES&H programs at the facility. Position will report directly to the Safety, Health & Environmental Manager.
Responsibilities:
•The EHS Specialist provides leadership and direction for the development and implementation of programs and systems to comply with federal, state and local EHS regulations and Company policies, strategies, initiatives and goals.
•Major areas of emphasis include:
oOccupational safety
oIndustrial Hygiene
oVentilation
oTraining
oRC 14001 certification
•Establishes systems for monitoring of the workplace safety risks and environmental impacts through the analysis of work processes, materials and equipment. Identifies potential or actual areas of non-compliance through audits or inspections. Ensures appropriate corrective action and preventive action is taken to address non-conformance issues. Develops and executes EHS training programs for employees in areas such as hazmat handling, emergency response, industrial hygiene, waste management, EHS awareness and life safety. Has excellent communication skills and uses judgment in data analysis to develop and design solutions to resolve complex EHS regulatory and technical issues.
•Develop, implement and monitor compliance with federal and state regulations.
•Partner with and educate business functions to assure that employee safety, environmental sustainable practices and compliance with EHS regulations are supported.
•Obtains and maintains health and safety records and required Environmental permits, licenses and documents.
•Manages EHS job functions for duties such as job safety analyses, EHS training, workplace incident investigation and analyses, EHS inspections, and data collection.
•Evaluates new hazardous materials to ensure compliance in EHS requirements and facility procedures.
•Conducts EHS reviews for new product development, facility modification, product manufacturing modifications and new equipment/machinery installations.
•First response for facility EHS emergencies.
•Partner with business functions to resolve complex problems.
•Selects and applies professional EHS principles, theories and concepts and uses independent judgment to develop and design practical solutions to complex EHS issues.
•Responsible for monitoring employee exposure to chemical and other toxic substances and physical hazards, including Industrial Hygiene sampling and other SHE specialties as required.
•Conducts ergonomic risk assessments and makes appropriate recommendations.
•Trains and monitors the work of all functional area EHS Representatives.
•Establish, perform and report metrics pertinent to EHS activities.
REQUIREMENTS
Requirements:
•Bachelor’s Degree in a technical field, preferably Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Safety or Environmental Health or a related field.
•Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience performing SH & EE in a manufacturing environment.
•Solid knowledge of applicable state and federal SH &EE regulations, codes and guidelines.
•Ability to be a take charge type of leader accustomed to difficult challenges at work.
•Strong communication skills.
•Computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
•Ability to manage multiple priorities
•CSP or CIH preferred.
