RISK MANAGEMENT INTERVENTION SPECIALIST
Reporting to the Vice President of Risk Management, this position will be responsible for direct contact with policyholders who are selected for risk management intervention. You will have direct contact with the NORCAL Peer Review Committee and all Operational Vice Presidents, as well as members of the Board of Directors and the Claims Advisory and Risk Management committees. We'll rely on you to plan and execute all Peer Review Interventions, develop programs that address issues referred to committees, and track changes in behavior as well as changes in administrative processes to quantify the risk management process.
This opportunity requires a Master's degree in Biological Science or clinically related field and 5 years experience in healthcare, including direct experience working with physicians and thorough knowledge of credentialing, quality assurance, medical records management, medical group management, hospital administration, regulatory issues and current healthcare issues. Clinical experience is highly desired. Minimum of 3 years experience in a medical malpractice risk management environment is also required. On-site client visits could include air and overnight travel. Qualified candidate must own or lease an automobile, have proof of valid driver's license and registration, and meet NORCAL's minimum auto insurance requirement.
RISK MANAGEMENT SPECIALIST
Our Risk Management department seeks a Specialist to be based in Northern California to conduct on-site reviews and work with policyholders to provide risk management reports, recommendations and consultation. You’ll also research, develop and implement risk management services and products, including educational programs focused on loss prevention and assessments in determining risk factors.
We require a BS/BA with a major in a healthcare-related field. Current RN, NP or PA license and/or Master’s degree preferred, as well as additional risk management coursework or designation (CPHRM or ARM). Other requirements include 3-5 years direct healthcare experience, leadership or management experience, strong written and oral skills, and availability to travel (CA driver’s license and insurance necessary).
MANAGER, RISK MANAGEMENT
You will be responsible for key account management, workflow and personnel activities, and matters related to the Risk Management Specialists. Additional duties will include assisting the Vice President in the development and implementation of departmental business plans and directing interdepartmental project teams. We'll rely upon you to ensure optimum performance in all areas of Risk Management Specialist activities in accordance with the Vice President's strategic direction of the department. In all areas, the Manager must be an effective leader, an efficient administrator, a skilled facilitator and an excellent communicator able to work in a team environment with all employees. Requirements include prior supervisory experience, a college degree in Biological Science or other health-related field; Master's degree preferred. Additional requirements include a minimum of 3 years experience in the Healthcare field and a minimum of 5 years experience in a Medical Malpractice Risk Management environment. Proof of valid California driver's license, availability for overnight travel.
