Premium Audit Manager

Responsibilities: Provides day-to-day supervision and technical guidance to the premium audit processing staff who evaluate commercial vendor and mail audits, review customer insurance reporting forms, and provide administration support to Premium Auditors. Audits include review of payroll records, sales receipts, financial/business records, and physical inspections of the premises to determine whether premium charges accurately reflect the risk assumed. Ensures that audits are in compliance with the different Business Products company guidelines and with Compensation Rating Bureaus countrywide.

Provides technical guidance and supervision to a field staff of Premium Auditors and an administration staff.

Ensures the efficient production and quality of premium audits involving the accurate identification of all exposures and the achievement of correct earned premium on all audited policies. Has direct responsibility for field and inside premium audit activities.

Develops objectives, standards, and policies for the Premium Audit operation. Monitors the audit processes for work efficiency, timeliness, accuracy, compliance with company objectives and quality of the audits produced by staff and outside commercial venders. Responsibility includes the selection and monitoring of outside commercial auditors who provide audit service for Sentry.

Maintains knowledge of business changes by reviewing procedure bulletins, manual changes, and communications. Keeps staff informed of changes that affect the processes that are performed for premium audit.

Communicates and keeps the Director of Product Services informed of any service problems or discrepancies that affect the successful results of the unit.

Prepares annual budget including department company auto and travel expense, as well as the commercial vendor audit expense for all Business Products areas. Manages and controls expenses to ensure compliance with budgetary guidelines.

Performs personnel administration that includes selection, training, performance evaluations, salary administration, and affirmative action. Prepares and implements training and development plans, and encourages continuing education for staff.

This position may require traveling with audit staff and holding annual conferences for staff.



Job Requirements


Qualifications:


Previous experience as a Sentry Senior Premium Auditor/National Accounts Premium Auditor is beneficial. Extensive countrywide insurance experience is desirable, as is a good working knowledge of all property and casualty commercial lines products including garage liability and filed company exceptions. Strong analytical ability is necessary, as well as a broad knowledge of various accounting techniques and systems. Previous management experience, communication and human relations skills are essential. Incumbent must be able to exercise sensitivity when dealing with policyholders, sales and customer accounting on contested audits. Interpersonal skills are required to interact with Underwriting, State Insurance Departments, and sales producers. Insurance coursework, i.e., IIA or APA is helpful. The incumbent must be able to meet the travel requirements of the job.


Compensation and Benefits:


The starting salary can be up to $65,000 annually depending on experience and qualifications.
