Insurance/Health Benefits Claims Director

Western Growers celebrates more than 80 years of serving the fresh produce industry in California and Arizona. Our association members are the farmers who grow, pack and ship nearly one half of the nation's fresh vegetables, fruits and nuts. Some of the services we provide to our members include: health benefits, government relations, community relations, training, transportation claims and negotiations, legal and labor relations, financial services and retirement benefits, and property and casualty coverage.

We have an immediate opening for a Claims Director for our Claims Operations Area in our Irvine office. Reporting directly to the Sr. Vice President/CIO; the responsibilities will include:

•Plans and directs all aspects of claims function by using extensive experience and judgment to accomplish goals.
•Develops procedures to enhance the processing of claims.
•Monitors the operating system including policies, procedures, and information flow for both production and quality.
•Supervises the daily operations of staff: examiners, clerical, audit, customer service, and Utilization Review including the field offices.
•Develops and monitors in-house continuing education programs for staff.
•Approves personnel activity concerning hiring, training/development, and evaluation of staff performance.
•Prepares annual budgets/reviews monthly expenses for Claims department.
•Makes routine visits to the field to visit customers and accounts.
•Conducts special projects as assigned by Sr. Vice President/CIO.
REQUIREMENTS
We prefer a Bachelor’s degree, with 10+ years work experience in supervising or managing a health care claims/insurance operation. Candidates with professional certification from HIAA, LOMA, or similar industry-specific education programs are encouraged to apply!!! Needs to be familiar with a variety of the medical and dental insurance concepts, practices and procedures. Proficiency in MS Office applications is a must. Superior organizational, attention to detail and written/verbal communication skills are a must. Outstanding Customer Service skills are required. Must be able to work in a highly confidential area and have strong problem resolution skills.
