At our tertiary care hospital, you'll encounter the meaningful challenges you seek.Primary Purpose: This position will ensure all authorizations/referrals are obtained for scheduled office visits, procedures, consultations for PCMG and Phoenix Children?s Hospital. This position ensures all benefits are verified with each payer prior to the patient?s appointment and identifies atients/families, who could pose a payment risk and refer them to the Financial Counselors. Minimum Qualifications: 1. Associate?s degree in health care, business or closely related field OR equivalent combination of education and experience. 2. Must have a minimum of 2 years previous experience in a health care field with 1year Authorization/Insurance verification experience. 3. Familiarity with physician office practices. 4. Knowledge of managed care and third party payer benefits designs and reimbursement requirements. 5. Proficient understanding of CPT and familiarity with ICD-9 diagnosis coding. 6. Solid knowledge of medical terminology. 7. Knowledge of all HIPAA privacy laws. 8. Knowledge of a centralized computer-based system; Misys preferred. 9. Knowledge of verifying benefits is required. 10. Must be able to cope with mental and emotional stress of this position. 11. Excellent verbal and written communication skills; professional demeanor and team player. 12.
