To assist the liability manager in the investigation and evaluation of general liability claims with an emphasis on litigated and the more serious claims exposure in accordance with established company guidelines. To protect the company’s interest by ensuring that all general liability claims are effectively investigated & evaluated in a timely, cost effective manner.Duties And Responsibilities:
Assists the liability Claims manager in the training and coaching of the adjusting staff, instructing them in the proper performance of work while familiarizing them with company procedures, expectations and guidelines.
Assumes the manager’s duties in the absence of the liability manager.
Promptly respond to calls from Customers, Store Associates & division personnel. Handle and resolve complaints and problems arising out of daily operations of the department.
Assists the adjusting staff in pro-actively handling the general liability claims through timely investigations, accurate reserving, final resolution, focused action plans & strategies.
Drives thorough file documentation and active diary review. Search for opportunities to pursue indemnification, contribution or subrogation while reviewing claim files.
Keeps Associates abreast of state law and changes in rules of discovery & other legal procedures.
Searches for ways to improve claim handling making recommendations to the liability Claims manager for continued improvement of company guidelines for processing general liability claims.
Advises management of potential areas of improvement for loss prevention & Safety.
Represents the company during mandatory settlement conferences, mediations, arbitrations and trials as necessary and in negotiations with attorneys, service companies, insurance companies, etc.
Handles pending cases as assigned.
Assists liability adjusting staff on all files to include file reviews and granting of settlement authority up to $50,000.
Assists liability adjusting staff with managing defense attorneys to ensure aggressive cost control of litigation expenses.
Assists liability manager with performance evaluations, reviews, and in establishing goals and objectives for the adjusting staff while encouraging each subordinate to develop and succeed.
Assists liability manager in interviewing prospective personnel when additional staffing is required. Assists in the selection and training of new staff members.
Performs all other duties as requested.People Responsibilities: No direct reports.
Indirectly leads, mentors and trains Claims Adjusters and Claims Assistants.Scope Data: Settlement authority up to $50,000Physical Environment:
Work is performed under normal office conditions in a temperature-controlled environment
Will spend majority of the workday sitting at a desk or computer terminal or walking within a limited area.
Will use computer, keyboard, telephone, calculator and other office equipment

REQUIREMENTS
Education and Work Experience:
High school diploma required, (Bachelor’s degree preferred). Prior experience as Liability Adjuster II within the company or extensive experience handling general liability claims for an Insurance Carrier or TPA.
Generally more than 5 yrs professional claims experience preferred.
Prior experience managing litigation of general liability claims
All lines Adjuster License* (In applicable states).
Experience with applicable computer applications is requiredCompetencies:
