Communication Specialist
Job Summary: The communications specialist is responsible for the development and implementation of communications surrounding the company’s involvement in significant community relations, outreach and public affairs initiatives. Assist in developing and executing communications plans and programs that effectively promote TriWest to a complex matrix of target audiences, including military leadership, beneficiaries, congressional delegations and the media. Research, write and edit communications deliverables, including fact sheets, bios and invitations, brochures and collateral materials, graphics, signage and displays, press materials and website content. Manage logistics and communication for high-profile projects under direct supervision to achieve desired outcomes and report results.
Key Responsibility Areas:
•Develop communications materials to support major community outreach initiatives including Visions of Valor, Heroes at Home, National Military Family Assoc., America Supports You, USO, etc.
•Implement communications plans and project plans to maximize the visibility and positioning from TriWest’s sponsorship of these programs
•Understand major milestones and calendar of events, and develop action plans•Communicate with team members, internal and external stakeholders, vendors and manager to ensure successful completion of assigned materials on time and within budget
•Develop key messages based on a thorough understanding of the situation and the audience to be used for talking points, bios, introductions, quotes, press materials speeches and presentations
•Produce communications deliverables including graphics/signage, brochures and collateral material, fact sheets and press materials, collateral material, website and intranet content, etc.
•Coordinate SME, legal and stakeholder reviews of materials to ensure accuracy and effectiveness•Develop positive relationships and work closely with internal and external stakeholders, and field operations staff to ensure successful execution of events
•Coordinate with outside vendors (warehouse, shipping companies, freight forwarders, facility staff, audio visual companies, caterers and event planners) as needed to ensure the production of creative, high-quality, cost-effective communications solutions
•Establish methods for obtaining feedback; track, evaluate, analyze and report results of communication programs to measure its impact•Perform other duties as assignedWorking Conditions:
Favorable working conditions in a climate-controlled office space; must be available for to cover any work shift, including occasional weekend events; works within an office environment with diverse staff members. Employment StandardsEducation and Experience:
•Bachelor’s degree in journalism, public relations, marketing, communications or related field or equivalent combination of education and work experience
•Two years’ experience developing and managing communications plans and projects in a fast-paced marketing, public relations or corporate communications environment
•Two years of professional writing experience
•Demonstrated success managing marketing or public affairs programs, trade shows or events
•Strong verbal and written communications skills
•Experience editing and managing print and electronic materialsKnowledge, Skills and Abilities:
•Proficient with Microsoft Office applications (including PPT, Excel, Word and Outlook)
•Outstanding writing and editing skills and able to adapt writing styles for different audiences
•Communicate clearly and concisely to all audiences and through print and electronic media.
•Thorough and diligent fact-finder, internet researcher, proofreader and editor
•Ability to effectively interact and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of staff within TriWest as well as with external organizations.
•Must be able to embrace change and adjust quickly to work demands and shifting priorities
•Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks and projects efficiently and effectively.
•Ability to consistently meet strict daily and weekly deadlines
