Safety Technician

Purpose: Our client, the leading manufacturer and marketer of asphalt in the Western states is looking for a Safety Technician to do a 2, possibly 3 week contract assignment.

These contractors will be working in their 54,000 - barrel-per-day refinery located in Paramount, CA. The refinery has been in operation since the 1930s, and today is the largest and most efficient asphalt refinery in California.

On a day to day 12 hour shifts, this Safety Technician will be helping monitor safety issues during a turnaround of the plant. They will be responsible for issuing safety documentation (permits) and supervising the safety side of the turnaround jobs (watching craft labor personnel- they will not be managing people, just supervising their actions in respect to safety).

To be qualified for this position, candidates should have at least 3 years experience with lockout/tagout, confined space, fall protection, fire protection, industrial hygiene, contractor safety programs, safety training, program view, hot work permits, etc.

Would prefer to have experience at a refinery- preferably asphalt or chemical, but other industrial experience will absolutely be considered. Would like person to have experience with standard monitoring equipment.
