Electrician - Forest Products
Summary:
Performs preventative maintenance and industrial electrician duties in order to ensure that all machinery is functioning at full capacity at all times; applies all applicable safety precautions and performs duties in an efficient and profitable manner that promotes safety and superior employee relations.
Essential Functions: Completes weekly preventative maintenance checklist. Installs, monitors, tests, repairs, and replaces electrical circuits, equipment, and appliances using appropriate tools and testing instruments. Operates and maintains high voltage switchgear and controls; repairs and maintains motor control centers and programmable logic controls. Troubleshoots and repairs primary distribution system malfunctions such as ground fault tracing and cable replacement. Dismantles electrical machinery and replaces defective electrical or mechanical parts. Installs and maintains various types of motors, lighting fixtures, generators, circuit breakers, and transformers. Installs grounding leads. Interprets blueprints; works from sketches or verbal instructions. Lays out, assembles, installs, tests, repairs, and adjusts electrical fixtures, apparatus, equipment, wiring, and new services to include panels, breakers, and conduit. Mounts motors, transformers, and lighting fixtures into position and completes circuits according to diagram specifications. Follows applicable lock-out and tag-out procedures; ensures all prime movers are locked-out in accordance with company lock-out policy; ensures that all lock-outs are removed after the completion of each task. Keeps work area clean and free from debris. Adheres to all established safety standards, and performs duties in compliance with company safety policies and procedures, NEC requirements, TOSHA, and OSHA regulations. Uses all required safety precautions, including use of personal protection equipment (PPE). Performs other duties and special projects as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (Minimum Qualifications): High School Diploma or GED. Minimum four (4) years as industrial electrician in a manufacturing facility. Must have working knowledge of AC and DC motor control systems. Must have working knowledge of programmable logic controllers, relay control systems, and analog control systems. Must have working knowledge of lock-out/tag-out procedures. Must have working knowledge of NEC rules and regulations. Must be proficient using all electrical measuring equipment (VOM's, Meggers, oscilloscopes). Must have knowledge of input-output numbering systems and internal register numbering systems. Must have good teamwork and communication skills. Ability to work with minimal supervision.
