Assistant Golf Course Superintendent

Responsible for the supervision/maintenance of 18-hole golf course.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
•Assist the superintendent daily with the scheduling of the maintenance crew.
•Supervise the maintenance of an 18-hole golf course, its amenities and equipment inventory so to maintain high quality standards.
•Supervise crew of 10-22 people.
•Assist the superintendent with hiring, performance evaluation, recognition and discipline of assigned staff.
•Maintain daily communication with superintendent and crew as to status of projects, assignments, and goals.
REQUIREMENTS
QUALIFICATIONS:
•Working toward or have acquired an A.S. or B.S. in Agronomy or Turf Management.
•Intern experience in golf course maintenance.
•Knowledge of golf course maintenance procedures/use/application of golf course pesticides/fertilizers.
•Knowledge of and ability to operate and trouble shoot turf maintenance equipment.
•Ability to lift, push, pull a minimum of 50 lbs.
•Must be at least 18 years of age.
•Position requires flexible availability (days/nights, weekends/holidays, etc)
•This position is not a seasonal position.
•Virginia Pesticide License is required, or need to acquire upon offer of employment.
•Candidates must have proven job stability through strong work history.
•Candidates must have professional presentation and strong customer service skills.
•Command of the English language is required.
•Experience in related position is required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
•Ability to lift, push, pull, or carry up to 50 lbs.
•Ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach for an extended period of time.
•Ability to bend at waist and perform repetitive foot and hand action.
•Good hand/eye/foot coordination required
•Must be able to withstand a range of outside weather conditions (heat/cold, rain/snow, etc.)
•Must be able to withstand prolonged exposure to sunlight
