Job Summary:
Ensure the effective development, implementation, evaluation and support of departmental web applications. Improve the productivity of University Residences by automating existing business processes and assuring the quality of existing automated processes.

Hours of Work:
The Lead Web Application Developer will work 4 hours a day, 5 days a week or 20 hours per week.
Monday – Friday, with scheduled hours to be determined, based upon the needs of the department.

Essential Job Elements:
Design, develop, document, analyze, create, test, modify, and maintain computer systems or programs, including prototypes, based on, and related to, user and system design specifications. Participate in gathering requirements for new products or features. Write specifications and provide feedback for specifications written by other developers. Work with a team of developers to write system architecture plans and test plans. Implement features and write unit tests for each feature. Write and maintain documentation for APIs and application design.

Perform regression testing on class libraries to provide a high level of quality assurance when existing code is modified. Write new unit tests for problems encountered and maintain existing unit tests.

Provide backup support for the server administrator and help maintain the configuration of PHP and Apache. Maintain Oracle libraries and Oracle applications.

Collaborate with other University entities and maintain good working relationships. Meet new and unique work requirements to resolve problems by investigating and learning about University Residences business processes.

Required Qualifications
In order to be considered for this position you must meet all required qualifications

2 years of IT experience in areas related to web design applications and using object oriented design concepts
Experience with SQL and relational database design and ODBC and other database interchange protocols
Familiarity with UNIX or Linux systems

Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in computer technology or related field or equivalent education and/or experience
Experience implementing 3-tiered systems using PHP
Experience using Pear or another PHP extension library
Experience using PHP with Sybase ASE and/or Oracle databases
Experience working with a versioning source control system
Experience developing applications using Ajax
Experience programming using MS Visual Basic for Applications
Experience using and configuring Sybase ASE databases
Experience with Banner, especially Location Module
Experience with diverse groups especially in a university setting
