Job Description: Responsibilities:
General administration on database systems which includes maintaining data stores, schema objects, security and access privileges, software installation and configuration. Design, implement, maintain and automate the appropriate backup and recovery architecture required. Implement database replication for reporting and failover purposes.Interface with application owners to resolve technical and business issues for which databases could be part of the solution. Optimize performance on database and applications. Performance tuning on Oracle databases with and with out RAC implementation. Capacity planning exercises to properly identify required hardware, software, database configuration/architecture necessary to support application needReview of Data Modeling, schema design and review. Implement monitoring, auditing and alert systems. Educate application development and support people on best practices of the databases. Experience on 24x7 database support off-site & on-site.
Desired Skills:Strong experience with database administration work on Oracle in an environment where Oracle database was the backend for a mission-critical application. Support of Oracle 9i & 10g RAC production environment, including installation of Oracle CRS (Cluster Ready Services), Automatic Storage management (ASM), and database instances on multi-node clusters in multiple 9i & 10g RAC implementations. Database backup and Restore using RMAN with external tape backup systems. Extensive Experience Enterprise Manger 10g grid control for monitoring and administration. Extensive Experience Advanced Replication Experience tuning and troubleshooting queries against an Oracle 9i & 10G RAC environment. Must have experience in writing and analyzing complex SQL, stored procedures & triggers. Connectivity testing between applications and database. Fail-over testing of common scenarios including node and component failure in 9i & 10g RAC environment. Experience with Complex Distributed database environments. Problem analysis, resolving and good analytical skills. Prior involvement of data modeling (Create logical & Physical models) is helpful. Siebel (Sales) database experience is added advantage. Prior involvement with application development & knowing more than one RDBMS like Informix/ SQL Server/ Teradata/Sybase/ Universe is an added advantage
Requirements:
At least 3 to 5 years of Oracle database administration work. Solid UNIX system administration fundamentals. Familiarity writing scripts in one or more of the following languages: Shell, Perl. Knowledgeable with database performance tuning, backup and recovery, system architecture and design as well as high availability concepts. Ability to develop procedures, processes and conventions to standardize database operations. Good Attitude, motivated to learn and can pick new things up quickly on their own.
