ONLINE PROGRAMMER

Tucson Newspapers, the business agency for the Arizona Daily Star and The Tucson Citizen, has an immediate opening for an online programmer. This position will work on the web sites for the two newspapers and Tucson Newspapers to include:
•www.azstarnet.com
•www.tucsoncitizen.com
•www.tucson.com

Online Programmer responsibilities include:
•Meeting with departments, from newsroom to advertising, to incorporate scripts into their websites or products.
•Meeting with online designers and working closely with senior programmers.
•Will use scripts and databases to continually increase speed and functionality of web sites.
•Translates print/Web/advertising requirements into technical designs.
REQUIREMENTS
The successful candidate will:
•Have technical expertise knowledge in PHP, XML, and Ruby.
•Expertise of MySQL and the ability to create databases on a MySQL server.
•Have experience and is comfortable working in a UNIX environment.
•Have previous experience working on legacy systems or code.
•Be able to communicate with employees with less technical experience.
•Be able to work flexible hours including nights and weekends.

Previous experience in PHP programming preferred. A candidate with a 4-year degree in Computer Science preferred.
