Network Technician II

Function: Information SystemsPay Type: Non-ExemptPosition Number: 10270150 Network Technician IIEmployee Type: Full Time Shift N/AJob Description: This position receives, reviews and interprets service orders, work assignments and trouble tickets from supervisor; reviews and interprets circuit diagrams, wiring configurations installation manuals and follows national standards and Tyson practices and procedures; performs work both inside and outside the corporate office in connection with installing, re-arrangement, removal, testing, and repairing complex types of voice and/or data communication services and equipment. In addition, this position ensures that Tyson locations are properly prepared for equipment and communications service acceptance and installation; uses sophisticated electronic test equipment, measuring devices, meters and hand tools in analyzing, adjusting, installing, wiring, repairing, maintaining, and testing telecommunication equipment; logs all service calls and follows up with outside vendors, Tyson help desk, or network group personnel to ensure prompt problem resolution; prepares detailed records and reports; operates data terminals to access computer maintenance systems used in troubleshooting equipment and services; performs required maintenance such as inspecting, cleaning, testing, and adjusting equipment; and follows safety practices and procedures.
Position-Specific Requirements:
REQUIREMENTS
Education: 2 years of vo-tech training in electronics or equivalent knowledge of voice/data communications and computer networking.Experience: Three years as a communication technician or 18 months as a Tyson communication technician.Travel: Willing to attend classroom training away from home. Willing and able to travel out of state.Special Skills and Other Requirements: Must be willing to work day, evening, or night, overtime, emergency call outs, weekends and holidays, as required.Requires valid drivers license and satisfactory record check. Must have the ability to climb ladders and work aloft with hand tools. Must have the ability to perceive differences in wire and cable colors.
