SCC Technician 1JOB DESCRIPTION: Assists in monitoring and troubleshooting the DeltaCom
Switching Network for both voice and data utilizing NetCool and various network
management systems like Preside, Cisco CTM, Adtran EMS, NavisCore, and Unisphere
NMX-SMC. Assists in monitoring and troubleshooting various environmental and
site alarms. Responds to all trouble calls and network alarms in DMS500, 5ESS,
DAC, ATM/Frame Relay Switches, DSLAMs, and miscellaneous multiplexing equipment.
Assist in creating Remedy trouble tickets and dispatching field/switch
technicians as appropriate. Interfaces effectively with customers, internal
company departments, other telecommunications providers, and vendors. Performs
searches in internal company databases for circuit order detail, customer
information, outage notifications, POP/Switch site information, escalations, and
other tasks as required.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or GED required. Some college
coursework desired. Minimum of three years related experience and/or specialized
training in switching (SS7, Trunking, ATM/Frame Relay) and telecommunications
networks preferred. Must have good verbal communications skills to interface
with customers and internal personnel. Must have ability to read, analyze and
interpret general telecommunications information, technical procedures and/or
company practices. Ability to work shift-work as needed and where needed for
weekday and weekend duties. Must show ability to work with minimum supervision
in a stressful environment.
