CADD Drafter
Pay Grade: G
Under general supervision:
Drafts initial base and plant mapping for new R1, MDU, and conduit on AutoCAD maps and forwards to RF or Fiber Designer.
Drafts and maintains hub boundary and GIS maps used for starting an upgrade or retrofit project. These maps are used by design for creating node boundaries, by construction for splicing, phasing, and tracking, by fiber for node location verification, by marketing for tracking, and by ICOMS for node boundary verification.
Drafts and maintains specialty maps needed by Government Affairs, Marketing and Construction for tracking and presentation purposes in sales, HOA meetings, and local municipalities.
Ensures plant design is accurate and readable on design maps through contact with RF or Fiber Designer and field technicians.
Performs quality control review of as-build information.
Updates Fiber Optic plant and/or RF plant in CAD from as-built mapping.
Ensures CAD file integrity (addresses, footages, layering, blocks, etc) and maintenance.
Updates address changes on CAD maps received from New Business Development, Field Tech, Engineering, and developers and forwards to other departments.
Verifies accurate Tap ID for ICOMS assignment and drop locations per field maps and correct addressing against the US Postal database.
Updates tap address, cable ID, node ID and address block hidden attributes on maps in order to produce Tap ID reports for ICOMS telephony tracking.
Coordinates with Fiber Designers to convert Fiber plant documentation to new GNIS (intergraph seamless mapping) system.
Tracks strip maps in database including signing in and out of maps to individuals or contractors for updating. Forwards updated maps to bluestake contractors on a weekly basis.
Align drafting priorities with project timelines.
Maintains technical and operational integrity of CATV and/or Fiber plant design using CAD.
Updates all maps to current drafting standards or current Attachment B .
Analyzes impact of updates on other associated maps.
Performs quality control review of contractor drafting including blocks, layering, Attachment B specifications and general drafting esthetics.
Maintains quality control on all CAD maps and provide feedback to management, including providing solutions to correct and/or resolve discrepancies and improve the general quality of CAD maps.
Maintains quality control on all CAD maps and provide feedback to the RF or Fiber Designer who will design the most effective and redundant plant/ring placement.
REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications:
Education:High School diploma or equivalent
Experience: Minimum 2 years CATV, utility or other relevant plant mapping CAD drafting experience using AutoCAD and/or Microstation.
Other: Demonstrated analytical skills, a detail-oriented mindset, and ability to multitask.
DESIRED
Education:Associates Degree in CAD.
Experience: Familiarity and experience with spreadsheets, word processing and database software, map reading and map machines preferred. Knowledge/experience with RF/Coax or Fiber (CATV plant mapping) plant mapping.
Other:Effective planning, organization, and communication skills (both written and verbal). Demonstrated good customer skills (ability to handle both internal and external customers).
