Business IT Senior Program Manager [L40043]
Job Description: Summary
This position will be responsible for managing a portfolio of projects on behalf of the business. Establishes and implements business strategies with a very significant impact on business unit or functional results. Erroneous decisions or recommendations or failure to achieve results would normally result in substantial delays in assigned work and sizeable expenditure of time, human resources, and/or funds. Serves as prime consultant on highly significant matters relating to policies, programs, capabilities, and long-range goals and objective. Manages the overall coordination, status reporting, and stability of Information Services' project work efforts, ensuring that project goals and objectives are met within agreed upon time, scope, and resource requirements. Develops and executes project management plans that incorporate the following components: time, cost, scope, quality, communications, risk, human resources, procurement, and integration.Tasks & AccountabilitiesFrequent contact with senior executives both inside and external to DHL.
Collaborates with senior management to deliver strategic business results.
Manages the relationship with business counterpart to ensure the setting of proper expectations.
Manages the delivery of the project portfolio for a business domain or program.Negotiates priorities to ensure successful delivery of the portfolio.Directs managers on the delivery of complex program efforts.Provides leadership in end-to-end service delivery.Assists in the alignment of the portfolio with corporate objectives.Manages inter-program dependency to ensure coordinated service delivery.Optimizes process to ensure consistent, repeatable delivery of successful projects.
Develops advanced concepts, techniques, and standards.Develops new applications based on professional principles and theories.Deals with cross-cultural tactical issues.Builds co collaborative working relationships across groups; evokes loyalty and respect from others.
Builds, develops, and implements initiatives and processes for business/functional area within overall area of responsibility.
Recommends policies, methods, processes, techniques for the business function based on change initiatives; creates/conceptualizes new methods, techniques, and /or processes across job areas or functionsSupervises, coordinates, provides leadership to, and reviews the work of professional and supervisory level subordinates in order to accomplish operational plans and results
Estimates staffing needs and schedules and assigns work to subordinates and subunits to meet service and budget targetsEnsures performance planning, coaching, and evaluation occurs per policyRecommend pay adjustment and promotions
Must supervise 2 or more employees
Typically manages a large team or multiple teams, usually through subordinate managers or supervisorsSkills & QualificationsRequires BS/BA and 8-10 years experience in related field, including at least 5 years of supervisory or management experience or equivalent.
Has extensive depth of expertise and knowledge in specialized functions or business areas. A thorough understanding of specific aspects of work supervised and practical application to problems and situations ordinarily encountered.
