Technical Support Specialist
The Technical Support Specialist is responsible for providing technical support for Hewitts HRMS and Payroll product. This includes, but is not limited to coordinating the resolution of customer problems, maintaining and installing applications software, resolving customer issues, release testing and beta support for one or more products. Must have experience with large scale Application Systems - HRMS, payroll, and/or financial applications are a plus.
Daily activities:
Communicates directly with diverse customer base via telephone on technical and application issues
Analyzes and resolves technical and application issues for customers
Troubleshoots across a wide-range of client environments operating on various operating systems
Organizes/prioritizes workload while managing multiple tasks
Escalates problems and issues appropriately.
Provide support to clients regarding:
In depth troubleshooting functions across a wide range of system environments operating under a variety of operating systems.
Operating Systems: Windows, Unix, zOS and / or OS400
RDBMS: Oracle, SQLServer, and / or DB2.
Web: IIS, ServletExec, TomCat, JSP, HTML, and / or XML
Working knowledge of TCP/IP, CICS and / or CORBA protocols.
Understanding of Networked Systems.
Languages: COBOL, C++, Java, HTML and / or XML
REQUIREMENTS
Excellent written and oral communication, with an ability to communicate with all levels of management, employees and clients.
Proficiency in at least one of the following: COBOL, C++, or Java.
Exposure to Cyborg Scripting Language and/or Report Generator a big plus.
Working knowledge in Client Server and / or Web applications.
3-5+ years of experience supporting end-user systems or Software Vendor Help Desk experience.
Canadian payroll application / taxes
Canadian Year-end
HR/Ben application knowledge - at least at some level
Cognos Reporting (Impromptu or PowerPlay) or equivalent (i.e., Crystal Reports) a plus.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications (Word and Excel) and Lotus Notes.
BS/BA in MIS or CS or equivalent professional experience
French as a second Language is helpful
Position can be Remote
