Job Type Human Resources, TrainingThe Institute for Defense Analyses (IDA) is a not-for-profit corporation that operates three Federally Funded Research and Development Centers serving the Office of the Secretary of Defense, the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Unified Commands and Defense Agencies in addressing important national security issues, particularly those requiring scientific and technical expertise.This position is responsible for planning, producing, and administering staff and management training programs. Coordinates programs to develop employee skills and support IDA career development objectives. Researches and evaluates training resources and suggests new topics and methods. Responsibilities Develop and maintain an education, training and development model and, working with the unit manager, determine the education, training and development needs that link directly to IDA's business goals and objectives. Collaborate with leadership to develop guiding principles, strategies and plans; conduct comprehensive needs assessments; determine education, training and development priorities based on assessed needs, business impact and available resources. Coordinate existing training programs and provide consultation to managers for recommending training and/or development of job-specific training. Design, conduct and/or broker the delivery of training programs from a variety of resources. Research, evaluate and select outside programs, consultants, and trainers to meet training needs as appropriate. Develop methods, procedures and systems to support learning initiatives and records maintenance. Evaluate and measure the effectiveness of training and development programs. Conduct research, collect data and write reports to support the timeliness, accuracy and quality of career development initiatives. Coach Managers and employees with regard to career development strategies, opportunities, and techniques. Develop and maintain career development information on the internal IDA web and within iVantage. Oversea all aspects of the Career Development Assistance program including, but not limited to, program administration, communication, tracking, reporting and evaluation. Performs other duties as assigned.

Education - BS/BA degree required; graduate degree in related discipline preferred Experience - Three to Five years of Human Resources experience with an emphasis in the design, coordination, and evaluation of business-related education, training and/or development programs, preferably in a research environment. Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to interact with PhD level scientists and managers at all levels. Ability to obtain and retain required security clearances.
