Sales Compensation Manager

Mentor Graphics is looking for a seasoned professional to join an international HR group of 60+ people within a publicly traded company. This individual will develop and manage our Sales Compensation programs for our World Trade organization globally. This is a dynamic role that is closely linked to HR Business Partner leadership, Finance, and Sr. Sales executives. This individual will report into a Global Compensation and Benefits Manager, and will be responsible for driving the sales compensation and related programs. The position is located in Portland, Oregon.

Responsibilities:

•Provides expert advice and internal consultation to HR colleagues and Business Managers on compensation issues such as job classification and leveling, new hire offers, internal transfers, and equity concerns.
•Articulate and deliver detailed presentations on the design and impact of our comp plans to sales management and executive leadership.
•Develop a strong understanding of the sales “foodchain” and how plan payouts are affected when business opportunities are realized.
•Actively participate in the annual focal process, including design of focal tools and materials and reviewing salary proposals, to ensure adjustments are applied within established guidelines.
•Ability to analyze and use survey data to identify industry trends and competitive position for various markets. Also, develop and participate in compensation surveys including proficiency with web tools offered by providers (i.e. Radford)
•Collaborate with managers on compensation actions for employees in order to maintain a competitive advantage in our industry.
•Develop, implement, and administer US and Global compensation guides including job title structures and salary ranges matrices.
REQUIREMENTS
•Experience developing bonus plans, commission programs, and innovative equity offerings.
•Demonstrated experience designing “Sales” compensation plans for a variety of complex international sales models, including areas such as India, Eastern Europe, and Asia.
•Strong analytical and consulting track record with an expertise in either Access or Excel.
•Proven ability to sell new ideas and program design to all levels of the organization, including executive leadership.
•Insight or understanding of complex software sales and/or the sales cycle is preferred.
•4+ years of commission sales compensation background needed; DDP designation is highly desired.
