Quality Assurance Analyst

The Technology Product Development Quality Assurance Analyst is responsible for preparing for and executing the testing process for a given project.
Required skills, knowledge and responsibilities for this role include:
Executing the Test Plan. The Quality Assurance Analyst is responsible for executing the Test Cases within the test plan on schedule. This includes:
-Verifying actual versus expected test results
-Reviewing unexpected results for origination of the issue (test data, requirements, coding)
-Submitting clear, concise and complete issues to the appropriate parties using the issue management tool
-Completing the test plan execution by retesting issues until each one is resolved

Creating Test Cases. The Quality Assurance Analyst creates and stores test cases in the Rational TestManager tool based on the Use Cases, the Project Test Plan and the Supplemental Requirements. A test coverage traceability analysis is performed to ensure that all requirements and supporting specifications are tested through the Test Cases with duplicates, invalid, and out-of-scope scenarios removed.

Preparing Test Data. The Quality Assurance Analyst prepares the test data (person and/or provision) to be used in the test plan and in the unit test by Developers. Test data is prepared by utilizing available data within the project team and making/creating necessary modifications for the new project, using Components when possible.

Creating the Project Test Plan. As the Quality Assurance Analyst gains proficiency in the role, he or she creates and documents a Project Test Plan, using the standard template, based on the Vision Document, Use Cases and Supplemental Requirements. The Project Test Plan incorporates the overall test strategy for the project team into the individual project and highlights the overall goals and testing needs for the project.

Holds Test Plan Reviews: As the Quality Assurance Analyst gains proficiency in the role, he or she sets up the test plan walk through with the team and the Test Project Manager, incorporating any recommendations into the Test Plan. This includes risk analysis to ensure the proper priority is placed on conditions being tested

Project Status. During the testing process, the Quality Assurance Analyst notifies the Test Project Manager and Developers immediately upon identifying any issues that can affect the project schedule. The Quality Assurance Analyst helps the project team(s) evaluate risk and shuffle priorities based on the unresolved issues and the time remaining.

Trend Analysis. The Quality Assurance Analyst will analyze trends in the areas of issue management and process management.
-Issue Management: Analyze trends with resolved and/or pending project to determine the quality of artifacts and projects.
-Process Management: Analyze trends with the project development process, and development process flow. The expectation is to aid the project in identifying high-risk areas in order to focus team process improvement efforts on specific areas of development and testing.

Ensuring Availability and Usability of Client Team Documentation. The Quality Assurance Analyst will create and/or provide input on the necessary knowledge management documentation to aid client teams in understanding what needs to be tested, or how the tool should be utilized.

Coaching: As the Quality Assurance Analyst gains proficiency in the role, he or she will coach other associates on a variety of skills. This includes how to create Project Test Plans, how to use TestManager effectively, how to use the test environment appropriately, how to set up test data, how to document issues, and how to evaluate risk with uncovered defects.
REQUIREMENTS
Required skills, knowledge and responsibilities for this role include:
any experience with or knowledge of Mainframe such as JCL and/or DB2, is ideal
