DIRECTOR, EMPLOYEE RELATIONSKids Hope United, a leading national, not-for-profit human service agency serving 4 states is seeking a dynamic Director, Employee Relations to be based in our downtown Chicago office. KHU human resources is structured so that each position will have generalist responsibilities within their particular region while at the same time have corporate wide responsibilities for the employee relations functions.The ideal candidate will have at least 3 years employee relations experience with an organization of approximately 1000 employees and have some social services background; be a recent law school graduate; or have a background in employee relations while still pursuing their Juris Doctrate.
A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Human Resources Management, public administration, psychology, or education required. SPHR (Senior Professional Human Resources) certification strongly preferred.NO RELOCATION IS AVAILABLE.Position expected to be filled late December 2006.

REQUIREMENTS
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
•Leads agency employee relations and compliance function which includes managing the agency Employee Relations Program called “RISE!”, EEO Administration, sexual harassment policy proliferation and staff training, and diversity program management and training ( in collaboration with Director, Professional Development).•Consults with employees in re their various employee relations issues.
•Oversee, train and support to HR Liaisons in the region
•Manages Employee Problem Resolution proceedings
•Manages service awards, employee recognition initiatives, and the HR Employee Advisory Group.•Manages and develops the KHU Progressive Discipline policy and consults with
management and supervisors in re all employee disciplinary proceedings pursuant to the policy, including and up to a mandatory consultation prior to involuntary terminations.
•Responsible for maintaining agency compliance with all laws, best practices,
and industry trends related to employee relations and all applicable laws, regulations, and regulatory agency advisories related to KHU and its business.
•Edits and manages the publication of all external HR communication initiatives such as the Agency manual, the employee handbook, and the
supervisor’s handbook, etc.
•Editor of the employee newsletter and HR management bulletins.
•Annual comprehensive audit of legal compliance policies, standards, and practices related to human resources management.•Prepares and manages the annual budget related to the employee relations, compliance and HR communications function within the agency
