Human Resource Specialist

SUMMARY: Responsible for the day-to-day operations supporting California and North Carolina relating to benefits (health, 401(k) and voluntary) and employee activities.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.1.New Hire Orientation; schedule, orient and follow thru with enrollment and payroll paperwork.
2.Benefits; processes new hire enrollment applications with all health vendors, handles changes and terminations. Assists in resolving employee benefits issues.3.Cobra; coordinates with third party administrator to notify of qualifying event and termination. Assists with resolving any issues.4.Work with Director and management staff on administration of leaves of absences (FMLA, PDL, CFRA and Paid Family Leave)5.Responsible for the upkeep of the HR intranet site (Employee directory, organization charts and eforms).6.Payroll & HRIS: Input new hire information as well as benefit deductions and 401(k) loans.7.Set up and maintain employee personnel files.8.Coordinates with outside vendors (24 Hour Fitness/Credit Union/Costco/Spectrum Motion) to market company sponsored programs9.Coordinates 401(k) quarterly enrollment meetings. Inputs new enrollee information. Bi-weekly 401(k) deferral and match transmittal. Annual discrimination testing input of salary information. Any special reporting as needed.10.Process and reconcile all monthly insurance bills. Coordinate with Finance for timely payment.11.Coordinate annual Open Enrollment for health benefits (PWL and Monarch).12.Responsible for supplemental employee education (lunch-n-learns)
13.13Notify department heads of performance evaluation due dates and coordinate with Director as to the status. Work with Director in regard to salary administration.14.Participate on company activities committee.15.Process verification of employments.16.Assists in resolution of employee issues.17.Special projects as assigned.18.Regular and consistent attendance.
REQUIREMENTS

Bachelors degree preferred or equivalent work experience.; or 5-7 years related experience and/or training.LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:
Ability to type 40-50 wpm and strong Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, Powerpoint). Ability to navigate the internet. Must possess outstanding people skills and able to handle highly sensitive information confidentially.PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
