Deloitte's Total Rewards group addresses the business strategy, corporate culture, and global alignment of employee benefit programs. We provide design, delivery, and performance improvement solutions to purchasers, providers, and
administrators of employee benefits. Our approach includes technical expertise in retirement, health care, compensation, communications, and tax.
Deloitte Consulting LLP (Deloitte) is looking for a health care consultant to serve in a Manager role in the Total Rewards practice of Deloitte's Human Capital Advisory Services group. In this position, the candidate will assist Deloitte Managers and Partners in providing strategic and technical employee benefit consulting services to plan sponsors (e.g., employers, municipal governments, health & welfare funds, etc.).
A representative sample of a Manager'sjob responsibilities
Conduct employee benefits diagnostic/planning studies
Prepare managed care plan design and pricing studies
Manage/conduct competitive vendor search and selection initiatives
Prepare financial projections and COBRA rate development
Review health plan performance, including reviewing and negotiating policy year
settlements and premium rate/administrative fee renewals
Prepare client presentations and reports
Conduct other general health & welfare consulting activities, as required
In addition to serving plan sponsors, other project work can include working with payers and providers in such projects as HMO risk and value analysis, provider network development, operational claim reviews, etc.
Requirements of the ideal candidate
Technical background in underwriting and other areas of health care finance
Strong understanding of health care plan design and alternative delivery systems, including consumer directed health plans with HRAs and HSAs
Knowledge (plan design and pricing) of other health & welfare benefit plans (e.g., life, disability, dental, etc.)
Strong client presence
Technical background in underwriting and other areas of health care finance
Ability to work well in team-based
environment
Project management, presentation, and facilitation skills
Well-organized with the ability to handle several projects/clients simultaneously
Well-developed verbal and written communication skills
Proficiency with MS Office products, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint
Ability to work independently and develop client relationships
Strong work ethic with a commitment to client service excellence
Flexibility to periodically serve out of town clients for an extended period of time
Education and Experience
Undergraduate degree (Master's degree is a plus)
CEBS
5 to 10 years of health plan/insurance company and/or consulting experience
