HR Manager (part-time)
Allrecipes.com, a division of Reader’s Digest Association, Inc., the world’s largest food publisher, is seeking a talented HR generalist to join our team. This career opportunity with the #2 food site on the web is a permanent position and will begin as a part-time role at 3 days/week, and will transition to a full time position in mid 2007. Mission/Purpose of Job:
The HR Manager will work closely with the Executive Management Team and CFO, as well as the VP, Human Resources North America and Corporate HR team, to support the strategic initiatives of Allrecipes.com. The candidate will be responsible for anticipating and responding to day-to-day general HR needs of employees and provide counsel to management in the areas of employee relations, performance and talent management, organizational planning and development and compensation. This manager will collaborate with the Corporate HR team in utilizing, leveraging, and managing NA and Global HR practices and programs.
Primary Responsibilities:
Establish and implement HR processes and infrastructure – utilizing corporate policies and practices where applicable.
Provide assistance to clients concerning human resources-related services, programs, issues, support and tools; communicate basic HR policies and procedures as necessary to ensure consistent practices.
Assist line managers in developing skills to manage human resources more effectively through modeling, coaching, instruction and training. With client and VP, HR, identify opportunities to increase organizational effectiveness (i.e., increased management competence, change agent, teamwork, communication, career development, etc.)
Lead recruitment efforts: collaborate with hiring managers and Corporate Staffing Department to determine best systems, sources and processes for recruitment and orientation. Build relationships and company presence in the industry to identify/maintain prospective talent; expediting acquisition of talent.
Facilitate collaborative problem solving strategies to resolve employee relations’ issues through effective communication with all levels of employees. Assist with investigations of complaints, and reviews and approvals for disciplinary actions and terminations as necessary.
Assist with the review and tracking of salary transactions. Help to provide guidance related to salary planning/compensation, promotions, job classifications, and internal benchmarking information. Liaise with Corporate compensation partners to assist with job leveling, benchmarking and other compensation analyses when necessary.
Support other HR related activities as required, including exit interviews, training, coaching in performance management and appraisal, and facilitating solutions and action plans from employee survey process. Participate in a wide range of projects as assigned by the CFO and/or VP, Human Resources.
Serve as contact person for clients when executive team members are unavailable, escalating issues to senior staff as necessary.
Demonstrate conceptual thinking and relieve executive team members of the day-to-day demands, providing proactive support and keeping them informed of issues as necessary.
Ability to help interpret applicable state and federal policies, procedures, regulations and guidelines.
Participate in a wide range of projects as assigned by the executive team members/clients.
Develop effective relationships across the company and with a wide variety of internal/external partners.
REQUIREMENTS
Experience/Education/Skills & Knowledge Qualifications:
Undergraduate degree or equivalent work experience. Advanced degree (MSOB, MBA, MS) preferred.
5-7 years of progressive HR generalist accountabilities. Particular emphasis of proficiency in Recruiting, Employee Relations, Performance and Talent Management, Compensation and Organization Development. Culture Change and M&A experience preferred.
Demonstrated success in managing and establishing local programs and inter-relating with centralized resources/systems/programs preferred.
Proactive, energetic, resourceful and self-motivated.
A strong customer service orientation.
Must be able to use good judgment to set and adjust priorities and maintain effective follow-up systems to accommodate a busy workload and meet scheduled deadlines.
Attention to detail and the willingness to go above and beyond.
Highly organized; ability to prioritize workload and manage multiple tasks at one time.
Deals well with ambiguity and change; shifts comfortably with changes in priorities/direction – can lead others through such changes.
Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of staff and external contacts.
Ability to handle sensitive information and situations with tact and discretion.
Strong team player with willingness to be involved with a diversified range of projects.
Exceptional computer skills, Word, Excel and familiarity with HR Oracle Systems; BrassRing a plus.
