HR Generalist, 8623
Directs human capital management activities, such as Employee Relations, Benefits, Recruitment, Compensation, and Compensation at Headquarters Operations. Responsible for communication of and measurement of Discover Financial Services, Inc's (DFSI) human captial programs as they are implemented in the specific business unit.
Main Responsibilities and Functions:
Performance Leadership (10%)Represents human capital interest and issues of Headquarters organization to ensure that all local human capital requirements are met and align with corporate vision.Proactively identifies changes in local market conditions in line of business.Builds and leverages strong relationships with field operations OE leads to facilitate identification and sharing of better practices.Establishes role as visible, proactive, integrated partner with corporate leadership team to help drive business and HR strategies across organization.Influences field HR operations to ensure HR strategies initiatives are implemented effectively across the enterprise.
Operational (55%)Implements HR programs for headquarters staff for line of business.Provides full scope HR generalist support to Headquarters employees.Provides direction and assistance to field OE leads in meeting their objectives.Develops and maintains close working relationships with all Shared Services, Compensation & Benefits, Internal Communication/Community Affairs as well as Organizational Development leads for advices and counsel regarding various HR initiatives, programs, procedures, policies, etc.Operationalizes human capital initiatives, quantifies results, and monitors and measures improvement and effectiveness.
Customer (35%)
Works closely with Headquarters business leaders to understand their needs and assist them in leveraging their employees to optimize business performance.
Responds to customer inquiries in an efficient and effective manner.
Develops and maintains strong working knowledge of business strategies, objectives, key deliverables, and competitive challenges.
Partners with peers, associates, and Shared Services, Compensation & Benefits, Internal Communications/Philanthropy, and Organization Development functions to create and implement program-oriented solutions that help client meet business goals and strategic objectives.
REQUIREMENTS
REQUIRED SKILLS:
Bachelors Degree in HR, Business or related.
3-6 (+) years experience as HR generalist, in:
Leveraging HR functional initiatives to overall business vision and objectives.
Strong demonstrated communication skills and ability to influence employees and management in lines of business.
Highly developed consultative and negotiation skills.
Excellent oral and written communications skills.
Strong customer service commitment.
Demonstrated leadership ability, including solid coaching and counseling capabilities, interpersonal and team building skills, and partnering abilities.
Ability to focus on strategy and execution.Experience dealing with challenges of Headquarters organization.
Must be at Intermediate-to-Expert level proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, etc.).
Demonstrated knowledge of project management tools and techniques.
