HR Generalist

Under the direction of the VP Human Resources and Education, responsible for performing clerical and secretarial duties supporting the Human Resources and Education area. Assist HR team members with projects as assigned. Maintain a working knowledge of Human Resources and Education policies and procedures (i.e. Tuition Reimbursement, new hire process, personnel file audits, application tracking). Maintain a general understanding of laws and regulations pertaining to personnel practices and payroll (i.e. EEOC, OFCC, OSHA, Equal Pay Act, Fair Labor Standards Act, Affirmative Action Program, and Employment Taxes).
REQUIREMENTS
*Responsible for the timely and efficient answering of Human Resources and Education telephones. Accurately record and relay messages. Schedule and confirm appointments. Screen phone calls in a courteous manner. Practice confidentiality regarding employee information. Handle routine information requests as directed. Acknowledge all visitors.*Deliver incoming and outgoing department mail daily.
*Complete verbal employment verifications regarding current and former employees.
*Weekly, through supply order, ensure Human Resources and Education supplies are maintained and stock all incoming supplies. Place all maintenance calls, prepare work orders and act as office administrator in regards to general maintenance and upkeep of facility.
*Assemble and distribute general HR correspondence.*Order personnel business cards.*Assist Recruiting division by following process for background checks and credit reports. Assist with aptitude testing as requested. Assist with posting job opportunities and tracking employee referrals.
*Assist with preparation of job descriptions at time of appointment assignment.
*Assist with preparation of legal documents and exhibits for unemployment and legal hearings as needed. Fax routine unemployment claims and other documents to regulatory agencies within a timely manner. Assist with preparation of legal documents.*Maintain a working knowledge in support of compliance with federal and state laws and regulations pertaining to personnel management labor laws, fair employment laws, OSHA, compensation and Affirmative Action practices.*Assist with the employee benefits administration as needed.*Perform other duties as assigned.
