THE COMPANY:The Sports Authority is headquartered in Englewood, CO and is the largest full-line sporting goods retailer in the United States. The company operates 400 stores in 45 states and generates annual revenue of approximately $2.5 billion. The Company was established in 1928 and offers a comprehensive high-quality assortment of brand name sporting apparel and equipment at competitive prices.
MANAGEMENT & REPORTING STRUCTURE:The Compensation Sr. Analyst and Analyst positions will report directly to the Group Manager of Compensation in the Human Resources Department. The Group Manager, Compensation will report directly to the Director, Total Rewards.POSITION DESCRIPTION:
Works with the Director of Total Rewards to plan, develop and implement overall compensation programs for the Company. Recommends and proposes changes to ensure the organizationâ??s compensation objectives and competitive position in the marketplace are met.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:- Align the companyâ??s people and business strategies, objectives and competitive market position.- Manage the planning, development and implementation (including communication) of base salary and short-term incentive compensation programs.- Manage job evaluation as part of the overall organizational design process.
- Assist with long-term incentive programs, executive compensation and stock option plans.- Design creative solutions to specific compensation-related issues for business clients.
- Advise clients and management on pay decisions, policy and guideline interpretation and job evaluation.- Work with HRIS to support compensation data and reporting needs. -Manage the annual performance evaluation process for stores, distribution centers and corporate associates. Develop quantitative evaluation tools that measure and reward performance that impacts business.- Ensure compliance with all legal requirements.
PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:- Bachelorâ??s degree in business or human resources or equivalent relevant experience.- 5-8 years Compensation experience required - experience in Retail Compensation preferred; CCP preferred.- Demonstrated strategic experience in creating alternative compensation solutions.- Strong management skills that encourage growth and accountability of team members.- Mathematical/financial aptitude, analytical skills and ability to communicate effectively.- Proven project management skills and excellent process management skills.- Strong interpersonal skills in dealing with management and executive leadership.- Ability to compose reports, policy or procedure manuals and proposals.- Ability to interview or discuss confidential, detailed information involving associate problems or complaints.- Expert at MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Access. Visio and/or Org Plus software knowledge a plus.- Ability to improve existing systems and procedures as well as develop innovative ideas and solutions.- Knowledge of Lawson helpful.We are proud to be an EEO/AA employer M/F/D/V.
