European Ops HR Mgr
Company: Climax Molybdenum Job Function: Human Resources Job Description: Major Responsibilities: Position will be sited in Stowmarket, Suffolk, (England) UK.
(It is as an ex-pat assignment.)Individual will report to the Climax Corporate HR manager and the European HR manager. He, or she will provide Human Resources services to all European plant operations, as well as Sales & Customer Service groups. The European HR Manager is a strategic member of the Corporate Human Resources team, as well as providing direct personal hands-on tactical support for the European Region.Areas of responsibility:
Working closely with site management, the HR manager develops and administers effective attraction, selection and retention programs to ensure the site has the workforce needed to meet business objectives.
Represents the Company in administering union and work councils’ company agreements and relations. ( Wherever needed.)
Develops, administers, oversees all compensation and benefit programs consistent with Climax corporate directives and local business needs.
Develops and administers HR policies, practices, and procedures consistent with business needs, corporate directives, and legal requirements in support of sites’ role, in order to fulfill strategic business targets.
Assists all European locations in the general development and implementation of performance management systems, developmental programs and talent development programs.
Provides coaching, mentoring and support to all organizational levels in the spirit of fully developing human talent to its fullest potential.
Provides leadership, energy and facilitation on change initiatives at all locations.
Contributes to the development of global HR projects for Climax and Phelps Dodge Corporation
Manages and develops local HR staffs
Develops, maintains and improves KPI reporting in all HR matters to central HR and local management
- The ideal candidate will be a self-motivated, independent thinker with demonstrated ability to influence others.
Qualified candidates will be high energy, able to succeed in a fast paced environment, to include the ability to manage multiple priorities.
Must be customer service oriented and possess exceptional organizational skills.
Undergraduate degree in an appropriate discipline; graduate level degree preferred
7 - 10 years experience in Human Resources. (Experience/ familiarity with European operations would be preferred.)
Experience in progressive recruitment strategies and behavioral based interviewing.
Experience in managing compensation/ benefit programs, workers and unemployment compensation.
Demonstrated knowledge and working experience with a current HRIS. (PeopleSoft preferred)
Knowledge of applicable labor/employment legal standards with demonstrated experience in effectively dealing with employee representatives in all matters relevant to the employment relationship.
Proficient in Microsoft Office including Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint and Access
Detail orientation with the ability to meet multiple deadlines and handle a variety of responsibilities at the same time.
Proven ability to effectively interact with and influence all organizational levels
Proven ability to problem solve and use sound judgmentPreferred Qualifications:
Graduate degree preferred
Specific international interaction in the HR function and labor experiences; (negotiations, grev. processing, etc.) preferred.
Course work in international HR preferred.Criteria/Conditions(specific background and skills):
This is an ex-pat assignment, the manager will be located in Stowmarket, UK and will have responsibility for sites in the Netherlands and Germany as well. The manager will spend a commensurate amount of time at both Stowmarket and Rotterdam sites (primarily).Phelps Dodge is an EEO/Affirmative Action Employer.
