(WFSI) Human Resources (HR) function to an operating entity/hospital within a WFSI regional setting. He/she ensures that WFSI HR policies, procedures, practices and programs are carried out appropriately and effectively in his/her assigned area(s) of responsibility. He/she serves as a member of the administrative leadership team in the assigned entity/hospital and serves on groups, task forces, or committees, as assigned, either/both within the assigned entity/hospital or on behalf of the WFSI HR function. The Director of Human Resources also serves as an ex-officio member of the WFSI HR/OD Operations Group.Job RequirementsEducation, Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Bachelors’ degree in HR Administration, Business Administration, Organizational Development or other appropriate field is preferred but not required
At least seven years of professional human resources experience including or in addition to at least five years of leadership experience in a large organization is required.
Broad knowledge and expertise in employment law is required.
Broad knowledge of contemporary human resources practices is required.
Above average communication skills are required, including the ability to listen effectively, compose reports and narrations, and speak well in groups.
Positive interpersonal relationship skills are essential, including the ability to work constructively in teams or groups.
Values-oriented behavior in accord with WFSI Vales (R.I.D.E.S.) is requiredEssential Duties of the Job1.Provides expert guidance and advice to organizational leaders regarding WFSI HR policies, procedures, practices and programs, and ensures that they are appropriately and effectively carried out in his/her assigned area(s) of responsibility.
2.Provides supervising oversight and/or guidance to assigned staff or to other staff members who may be supporting an activity or program within his/her area(s) of responsibility; provides general oversight and/or project leadership in implementing or in the on-going administration of WFSI HR policies, procedures, practices, and programs.
3.Provides direct employee relations support to leaders and employees on such matters as discipline, grievances, application of policies, program eligibility, etc. In consultation with the respective Vice President, Human Resources, represents the organization in responding to external investigations and complaints; e.g., E.E.O.C filings, and/or in handling cases involving severance pay and outplacement services.
4.Maintains knowledge of employment laws and regulations (local, state, and federal), acts as a resource to leaders regarding employment laws and regulations; and ensures that the organization complies with pertinent employment laws and regulations.
5.Ensures timely and proper administration of employee separation; ensures that employee records are maintained appropriately; responds to and/or represents the organization to unemployment compensation officer.
6.Ensures that employee communications and customer service activities are carried out effectively in his/her area(s) of responsibility. He/she maintains close communication with the Director and staff of the HR Service Center in this regard.
7.Assumes responsibility for projects or special assignments as delegated by The Senior Vice President, Human Resources, the respective Vice President, Human Resources, or the President of the entity or hospital to which he/she is assigned.
8.Provides data, information, or reports as needed or requested by the WFSI HR function or the entity/hospital to which he/she is assigned.
9.Participates actively and constructively in the meetings and deliberations of the HR/OD Operations Group and assumes his/her proportionate share of the Group’s work.
10.In conjunction with the Director, Recruiting and Employment Branding, assists in and advises on recruitment activities within his/her entity or hospital; in conjunction with the Director, Diversity and Cultural Competence, supports and advises on diversity hiring initiatives in his/her entity or hospital.
11.Presents reports or human resource information to groups, which may include the Board of Directors, senior leadership groups, functional leadership groups, employee groups, or committees; may serve as a facilitator or presenter in New Employee Orientation.
12.Assists in preparing the assigned entity or hospital for JCAHO accreditation visits and/or state/local license inspections in the areas related to Human Resources; may represent the entity or hospital to JCAHO or other external parties.
13.Models service excellence in his/her personal job performance; ensures that assigned staff members provide high quality customer service and exemplifies the WFSI Values (R.I.D.E.S.) in work performance and professional relationships.
14.Carries out other assigned projects and duties as well as general managerial or supervising activities commensurate with a director.
