Director, Field Human Resources (Retail)

MANAGEMENT & REPORTING STRUCTURE

The Director Field HR will report to the Vice President, Human Resources. They will lead a team of 11 field and corporate HR staff.

POSITION PURPOSE

Support the company’s strategic initiatives through the development and execution of strategies that attract, develop and retain high-performing Associates. Manage Associate relations to balance equity, efficiency and voice of Associates & Management. Ensure compliance with Federal, State and Local employment laws as well as company policy.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Actively participate with leadership team and advise in matters of organizational effectiveness and development, which impact company strategy.

Provides HR functional expertise to field leadership team in support of people initiatives: retention, workforce planning, career-pathing, performance management, staffing, etc.

Makes appropriate recommendations to Sr. management, based on data analysis and research, that enables holistic business decisions (e.g. turnover reports, survey information, compensation studies).

Partners with field leadership to provide HR solutions in support of Company and Divisional business goals (e.g. comparative store sales, conversion, units per transaction, average transaction, gross margin, etc.).

Ensures competitive yet consistent approach to field compensation through compliance with Company's compensation policies.

Work with field leadership to implement and maintain best practices for ensuring 2-way communication and employee feedback.

Investigate, manage and mediate any EEO claims brought against the company.

Interpret and analyze proposed and existing legislation, review company policies, monitor and ensure legal compliance and advise management on legal matters in order to guard the organization against legal liability.
REQUIREMENTS
PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree in business administration or human resources management.

10+ years experience in employee (Associate) relations and field HR management (retail environment strongly preferred).

Experience conducting investigations and superior conflict resolution skills.

Ability to demonstrate strong relationship building capability at all levels.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Knowledge of Federal and State laws (ADA, Title VII, FMLA, FLSA, ADEA, etc.)

Ability to solve a wide range of complex, multi-disciplinary problems, which must consider short and intermediate, term company-wide planning.

Ability to deliver presentations regarding potentially controversial issues, which involves negotiation.

Ability to develop innovative ideas and solutions of potentially great significance to the company’s future.
