Defined Benefits Service Manager

The Benefits Service Manager (BSM) is responsible for the overall quality of benefits delivery for their service Health Management. The BSM is the main client contact for service specific topics and is directly accountable, along with the Benefits Delivery Manager (BDM), for client satisfaction for benefits delivery. A proficient BSM demonstrates strong client consulting skills, deep plan knowledge (including compliance), and a high degree of focus on operational effectiveness. The BSM will be the main contact point for the client with respect to ongoing requirements definition and will reach out to the Requirements Consultant (RC) as needed, typically in cases of large scale plan changes, new implementations, or platform upgrade. In general, this role will leverage across multiple clients.

Responsibilities:
Plan Management Client Consulting, the subject matter expert for all service specific and common client requirements; owns requirements changes
Develops and updates all applicable requirements documents for plan provisions, administrative events, interface documentation, and delivery channel documentation for clients in ongoing delivery
Participates in analysis discussions to ensure the provision requirements match the technical specifications for clients in ongoing delivery
Provides subject matter expertise to client, client team, shared services, and supporting services on plan provisions and ongoing processing concepts for clients in ongoing delivery
Serves as primary resource to client, client team, shared services, and supporting services in the translation of requirements
Participates in internal and external acceptance review process for clients in ongoing delivery
Accountable for defining the business plan and managing operations for their service
Records and reviews Change Orders for the Implementation Delivery Group (IDG)
Tracks and drives improvements in cost/participant metrics and performs Cost/Benefit Analysis for process improvement projects
Works with Benefits Implementation Manager (BIM) to prioritize and assign projects to iterations
Builds domain knowledge within the Benefits Operations Manager (BOM) and Benefits Analyst (BA) role
Manages the team
Leverages the talent/resources on the team to generate results
Monitors associate performance to ensure that results are achieved in an effective/efficient way
Conducts necessary performance management conversations with associates; uses tools and resources available to managers at Hewitt
Educates, reinforces, and holds associates accountable for behaviors that support Hewitt policies and guidelines (i.e., Code of Conduct, Data Privacy, etc.)
REQUIREMENTS
Technical Skills:
Â* Intermediate knowledge of general system environment and process flow
Â* Intermediate knowledge of delivery model
Â* Intermediate compliance knowledge
Â* Intermediate regulatory and legislative knowledge in aligned service area (Health & Welfare)
Â* Basic knowledge of overall financial management
Â* Intermediate knowledge of benefits business, including products and services, operations, and delivery

Education:
Â* Bachelors degree or work experience required
Â* CEBS helpful
Â* Project Management Institute (PMI) helpful

Work Experience:
Â* 25 years project management experience
Â* Previous benefits administration and client consulting experience highly desirable
Â* Proficient in coaching others (minimum 6 months of experience)
