The Johns Hopkins Health System is seeking a Benefits Specialist - Health & Wellness.

Job Duties
Employee will work closely with the Director to design, implement and administer the Health & Welfare Benefit Program for 10,000 employees, including both represented and non-represented employees. Primary responsibility will be to administer the Family Medical Leave and disability claims process. Conducts annual open enrollment process, develops benefit communications, responsible for IRS/ERISA compliance, and serves as primary resource for policy and procedure interpretation. Provides advice and guidance to department managers and employees regarding benefits.
REQUIREMENTS
Education
Work requires advanced communication and mathematical skills as acquired by completion of a Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or Business Administration and/or related benefit plan administration.

Knowledge
Applicant should have an excellent understanding of the Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA), and 1-2 years administering FML. Life, Short Term, Long Term Disability Claims processing is also helpful. Work requires a working knowledge of employee benefits policies and procedures.

Skills
Work requires excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills; requires high level of analytical ability necessary to compile and interpret a variety of benefits data including claims information, benefits cost information and the like. Demonstrate ability with Human Resources Management Information Systems and computer applications in order to generate reports and resolve complex mathematical/financial/statistical problems.

Required Licensure, Certification, Etc.
Completion of or working towards Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS) or American Compensation Association (ACA) designation is preferred.

Work Experience
Two to three years of employee benefits experience
