RN - Registered Nurse Shift Supervisor - Registered Nurse

Eight Mile Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, LLC has an immediate opening for RN Supervisor. Eight Mile N and R, is a 172-bed skilled nursing facility that emphasizes superior medical staff specializing in geriatric and rehabilitation measures to offer a wide range of in-house services. Our team is comprised of Physicians, Nurses, Certified Nursing Assistants, Rehabilitation Therapists, Social Workers and Registered Dietitians. Under the direction of the Director of Nursing, the RN Shift Supervisor is responsible for maintaining the standards of nursing care and practices within the facility to meet the physical, psychological and rehabilitation needs of the residents.

Some key responsibilities include :
Assesses all residents who have had an accident or incident that results in injury or any unusual event. Documents all findings as per Resident Care Manual Policy and communicates to the Executive Director and/or Director of Nursing any concerns.
Makes daily rounds in all areas of nursing care under his/her supervision, visiting each unit to evaluate overall unit performance, and to receive comments relating to the residents needs and problems, and implement necessary changes.
Delegates responsibility to nursing personnel through work assignments, etc. for direct nursing and non-nursing care of patients during the shift.
Supervises and evaluates the performance of all nursing personnel under his/her direct supervision.
Instructs all nursing personnel on new policies and procedures and treatments to allow for the most effective use of nursing time.
Reports status of nursing personnel and other supervisory matters to the Assistant Director of Nursing and/or Director of Nursing, on a daily basis.
Assists in scheduling of personnel to adequately cover all nursing shifts.
Assesses, Monitors, and treats specific patient care conditions pursuant to physician orders.
Maintains open line of communication with attending physician regarding patient care and/or treatment issues.
Demonstrates the ability to act as the Executive Director and/or Director of Nursing in their absence.
Ensures the coordination of nursing care with other departments and disciplines within the facility to best meet residents care objectives.
Coordinates the resolution of resident activity, social Services, and nutritional problems observed by nursing personnel.

REQUIREMENTS
Maintains a current, valid license as a registered professional nursed in good standing.
Possesses a minimum of one year of experience in nursing service administration. Additional education or experience in such areas as rehabilitative or geriatric nursing is preferred.
Possesses a strong knowledge of state, federal and local regulations as they pertain to long term care.
Is listed in good standing as confirmed on the Alabama State Department of Professional Credentialing.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
