Psychiatric Social Worker

Asian Pacific Counseling & Treatment Centers (APCTC) was established in 1977 as a program of the Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health. It became a private county-contracted agency with Special Service for Groups in 1990. With a staff of over 120+ qualified bilingual clinicians, APCTC has become one of the largest agencies serving Asian Pacific communities in the country. These services are provided at our sites spread throughout Los Angeles County including Downtown LA, San Fernando Valley, Cerritos and Long Beach. It is our organization's mission to provide culturally sensitive services to our Asian Pacific communities.

We have several openings for qualified MSW, MFT, Psy. D. or any BA related to Human Services.

Your primary duties as a PSW I are:

Conducting initial intake assessment and formulate a diagnoses based on the DSM IV criteria; provide individual, family and group counseling for adult, children and families; provide crisis assessment and intervention, link clients to access medical, educational, social, prevocational, rehabilitative or other community services; Assist in obtaining and maintaining housing and/or supportive placement as well as ensuring provisions for food and clothing; maintain 70% productivity within 12 months period, perform "Officer of the Day" duties including screening incoming clinical calls and walk-in clients, making eligibility assessment for mental health services and providing appropriate referrals. PSW will maintain and update necessary documentation including Initial Assessments, Progress Notes, Client Care/Coordination Plan, Annual Update and other clinical forms in a timely manner.

There are a few positions which require you to provide predominantly field-based work (i.e., home, school setting, etc.) so if you like change of environment then this may be the job for you! We stress close collaboration with clinical team so be prepared to work with a staff consisting of: supervisor/coordinator, case manager, possibly housing specialist, substance abuse counselor, career development specialist, psychiatrist and parent partner. Regular team meetings and supervision from program supervisor/coordinator.
REQUIREMENTS
Responsibilities for the position include:
1) Licensed staff (LCSW,LMFT,Psy.D.) with clinical experience and/or training related to providing mental health services strongly preferred.
2) Master's Degree in Social Work or Marriage, Family Therapy with clinical experience and/or training related to mental health services for children/families/youth/young adults/adults.
3) Knowledge of DSM IV and ability to diagnose.
4) A valid registration as an Associate Clinical Social Worker in the State of California. Proof must be submitted. Must be renewed every year.
5)Proficiency in one of Asian languages especially Khmer, Cantonese, Korean, Laotian, Mandarin, Spanish, Thai or Vietnamese highly preferred.
6) Ability to function as a member of an inter-disciplinary team.
7) Knowledge and ability to work with multi-ethnic populations.
8) Must have valid California driver license and own transportation with proof of insurance.
9) 24 hour availability for crisis intervention (if applicable)
10) Some after hours required
11) Permanent US residency, citizenship or possession of proof of legal employment authorization in the USA.
