The Pediatric Cardiology Associate Staff is an advanced practice nurse or physician assistant who will provide clinical services and education to infants, children , teens and their families. This individual will complete the patient's cardiac work-up and history/physical on new and follow-up pediatric cardiology patients, and will develop the patient treatment plan in collaboration with our board-certified pediatric cardiologist. This associate staff member may order, conduct and interpret appropriate diagnostic and laboratory tests, prescribe pharmacological agents and treatments and non-pharmacological therapies. Patient and family teaching and counseling are major aspects of this individual's work. The associate staff will also be expected to develop comprehensive patient education brochures for congenital heart disease patients, develop a congenital heart database including patients who have had device placements and will coordinate entry of patients into the Wisconsin Pediatric Cardiac Registry. The Pediatric Cardiology Associate Staff serves as a health care resource, interdisciplinary consultant, coordinator of care and patient advocate.Education/Learning Experience
Required: Masters of Science in Nursing granted by an accredited college or university and is qualified for certification as a Nurse Practitioner or graduate of a CAAHEP (Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs) accredited Physician Assistant program. Current RN license in state of Wisconsin, as relevant.
Desired: 2+ years experience as PNP/PA.Work Experience
Desired: 2-3 years direct patient care in a pediatric and/or cardiology clinic.Skills/Knowledge
Required: Must be able to apply diverse principles of logic, medical or scientific thinking to a wide range of health care situations. Must be able to apply accepted methods of treatment and creative new developments to health care problems. Must have strong communication skills and ability to teamwork, organize and prioritize.Licenses/Certifications
Required: Current license to practice in the State of Wisconsin as defined in Chapter N8.02 of the Wisconsin Statutes and Administrative Code; current certification from a national certification body approved by the Board of Nursing as a Nurse Practitioner or NCCPA (National Commission for Certification of Physician Assistants) certified or eligible; and licensed or eligible for licensure by the Medical Examining Board in Wisconsin.
