Activity Director

Eskaton, a leading senior services company in Northern California for more than 35 years is opening a new managed community in Pleasanton, CA. The new community, The Parkview, is in need of an Activity Director. This position reports to the facility Administrator.The Activity Director is responsible for planning, directing and coordinating activity programs to meet the creative, social and recreational needs of the residents in the special care unit at Eskaton Lodge Brentwood. Some specific duties will include:Will have primary responsibility for the organization, conduct and evaluation of planned activities.Plans, directs, coordinates and implements a social activity program seven days a week. Utilizes computer systems available to department.Meets the residents' needs and interests, taking into account abilities and physical limitations. Will assess residents’ social and leisure activity preferences.Participates/facilitates in support group activities.Maintains accurate and timely records that indicate the residents' attendance.Participates in the residents' plan of care and team meetings related to resident issues.Communicates the purpose, the goals, and the achievements of the activity program to residents, staff members, and the community, Develops methods for effective utilization of community resources.
REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's Degree in recreation or related field. Activities Director Certification required.Two to three years direct experience working with the elderly in a social or recreational program. Expected to attend Dementia training and appropriate educational programs.Shall have at least 6 months experience providing planned activities or have completed or be enrolled in an appropriate education or training program.Must have a valid and current CPR and first aid certification. All staff that provide direct care to residents will have current first aid training.
