Sr. Category Manager - General Merchandise

Here they grow again....our client is seeking a Sr. Category Manager - General Merchandise
You will work closely with the Senior Merchandising Team, Marketing and Operations to define specific strategies for each division. You will then assure that each division executes the agreed upon strategy.
You will have full P&L responsibilities

Your busy day will consist of developing and managing a business process based on the principles of category management
You will manage the procurement efforts across all divisions and actively promote supply chain initiatives to increase efficiencies.
You will assure good working relations between merchandising and operations, marketing, supply & logistics in order to assure organizational alignment and efficiencies
You will maintain high-level relations with suppliers.
You will have budgeting and forecasting responsibilities for the General Merchandise business across all divisions.
You will also be responsible for total sales and net profitability across all divisions
REQUIREMENTS
To qualify for this role you must have 5 to 7 + years general merchandise (non food) category management experience in the mass retail/big box industry - complimented with 10 + years in a managerial role in merchandising within the retail industry.
College education is preferred
You must have strong analytical skills and the ability to think strategically.
Fluent communications skills are essential and the ability to write thorough business plans and able to present at he executive level.
You must be able to work in a fast paced environment and able to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and be flexible in working on multiple projects at once.
Must be able to work independently but also be a team player and interact with all level of the company.
You will have the ability to build, develop and maintain internal and external relationships.
You must have a demonstrated ability to problem resolution and strong customer service focus. Maintain a high level of confidentiality.
You must be proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
