Specialty Associate Team Leader
Department: SpecialtyJob Summary:
Performs all functions necessary to assist the Specialty Team Leader in the daily operation of the department. Responsibilities include inventory control, maintenance of back room and floor, and training and supporting Specialty Team Members. Exhibits desire and potential to move into a Team Leader position.
REQUIREMENTS
Duties and Responsibilities:
Achieves or exceeds sales and margin objectives of the department.
Assists Team Leader in planning special displays and merchandising programs.
Assists in hiring, counseling, training and developing Specialty Team Members. Recommends disciplinary action, transfers, promotions, rate increases and consults with Team Leader on Team Member job dialogues.
Trains Team Members in proper product handling and storage, stocking, ordering, equipment operation, building displays and product rotation.
Assists Team Leader in the analysis of sales and labor reports.
In the absence of the Team Leader, supervises, schedules and assigns duties to the Team Members.
Conducts inventories and handle special orders.
Performs other duties as assigned by the Specialty Team Leader.Requirements:
A minimum of two years retail grocery experience or the equivalent.
Analytical ability and proficiency in math sufficient to calculate margins, monitor profitability and manage inventory.
Comprehensive cheese, beer, wine, coffee, and housewares product knowledge.
Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to train and mentor Specialty Team Members.
Must be 18 years or older and able to work a maximum of 8-10 hours per day.
Ability to stand and walk for up to 4 hours without a break.
Ability to bend and stoop to grasp objects, climb ladders, lift loads, up to 50 lbs. unassisted, push and pull carts weighing up to 100 lbs. unassisted.
Ability to visually examine products for quality and signage/labeling for accuracy.
Demonstrated proficiency in the proper use of a baler, dumpster, slicers, knives and all related equipment.
Thorough knowledge of all relevant Whole Foods Market policies and standards.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills; strong organizational skills.
Previous experience as an Associate Team Leader, Supervisor or Buyer.
Ability to work a variety of shifts including weekends and evenings.
Willingness to attend leadership classes offered by Whole Foods Market.
