DPI Mid Atlantic currently has openings for experienced commissioned Route Sales Representatives in the Cherry Hill, NJ marketing area.

Duties for this position include, but are not limited to:
Servicing stores including selling promotions, shippers, and new items
Maintain current information regarding holiday items, new products, saleable features, and the demographics of the assigned territory.
Inform customers of new items, promotions, distributions, demos, new programs, pricing, guarantee status and saleable features.
Call on prospective customers to solicit business from them.
Verify proper display of shelf tags, sale signs, pricing and new labels.
Check shelves and backrooms for overstock, proper product rotation, and dates.
Stock and merchandise shelves and complete reset programs for required customers.
Gather and transmit orders and credits electronically.
Meet or exceed established sales and gross profit objectives assigned.
Maintain sales program within territory based on customer’s estimated requirements.
Field problems, concerns and complaints from customers resolving customer-related service.
Communicate information received at store-level regarding mis-picks, mis-selects, unauthorized items, manufacturer defects and product rotation to customer service and sales management.
Monitor competition.

DPI Mid Atlantic is the successor company of the 2001 merger of DPI Halperin, a specialty perishable distributor started in 1963, and DPI-C&G, a dry specialty grocery distributor which began operations in 1973.

Our delivery area encompasses Maryland, Virginia, the District of Columbia, Delaware, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and North Carolina, with our own fleet of all-temperature trucks, and from Maine to Florida with common carrier and Cross Dock.

DPI Mid Atlantic's target market is chain grocery stores, as well as independent grocers, deli's, wine & cheese shops, white tablecloth restaurants, hotels, gift basket packers, military commissaries and warehouse club stores. Our state-of-the-art 275,000 square foot warehouse located in Upper Marlboro, MD offers full service distribution and stocks over 15,000 items including a broad line of Specialty Foods, Natural and Organic, Ethnic, Dairy, Deli, Bakery, Specialties in Meat, Seafood and Produce, General Merchandise and Supply items.

Our sales force is well versed in our 15,000 products and remains current with new products through research and national food shows. At our distribution center, advanced technology ensures accuracy, timeliness and a higher order fulfillment percentage. Our fleet of trucks can provide direct store delivery (DSD). We tailor our pricing menu to customer needs, and by utilizing electronic communications, national programs, and buying and logistics efficiencies, we reduce our customers’ costs
REQUIREMENTS
Requirements for this position are: HS/GED or one to three months related experience and/or training. Strong initiative, interpersonal, organizational and presentation skills. Ability to build rapport and gain customer’s confidence. Aggressively obtain new business as well as maintain and develop existing accounts. Previous sales experience with specialty and gourmet food products and servicing grocery stores a plus. Basic PC skills desired.

Qualified candidates will solicit orders for perishable and non-perishable food products, manage inventory, monitor and process credits, and build sales. Candidates must be able to work product. Must have current driver’s license, good driving record, and automobile insurance. Reimbursement provided for use of personal vehicle.
