The Produce Manager directs and controls the operation of the store’s produce department. Supervises department and participates in determining quality and quantities of merchandise.
Essential Duties:
•Implements the REWARDS Program.
•Implements efficient, profitable and safe operation of the store Produce Department in accordance with the Corporate Store manual and the overall store programs directed by Retail Management.
•Implements and maintains efficient procedures and schedules for ordering, receiving, checking, dating, storing, preparing, rotating and displaying of all produce items.
•Assists in setting quarterly and yearly department budgets; maintains constant follow-up to assure budgeted produce sales, produce gross profit and controllable expense items within the Produce Department are achieved.
•Monitors competition regularly for pricing, variety, quality and merchandising as directed by the Corp. Produce Specialist and Store Director.
•Supports advertised and in-store promotions; recommends items and ideas for department and store promotions programs.•Assists in certain desired store image and customer relations.
•Prepare work schedule for department personnel and counsels with produce manager on time schedule; assigns duties and maintains good productivity, within allowable payroll percent and effectiveness.
•Inspects, cleans and maintains, on a regular schedule, equipment and facilities within the department. Instructs and trains department personnel to effectively and correctly use equipment and facilities within the department; instructs and trains department personnel to effectively and correctly use equipment and facilities.
•Maintains accurate records required by management; initiates and prepares forms required.
•Implements and maintains security measures, as well as good housekeeping and sanitation.
•Supports and maintains all existing/new company programs.•Handles all other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
•Previous retail and/or produce experience is desired.•Regularly required to sit; stand; and use the hands to handle objects, tools or controls.•Must frequently walk, talk or hear, and reach with the hands and arms: occasionally, the employee must crouch or kneel.
•Must be able to lift or exert up to 75 pounds occasionally carrying cases of produce or beverages, trash containers, etc. and frequently lift moderate amounts of weight.
•Must be able to sweep and mop floors, dust and face shelves, and lift and carry out trash containers to be emptied in an outside bin.
•Must be able to stock coolers and shelves and endure working under temperature extremes in refrigerated storage areas up to 20 minutes at a time.•Must have sufficient memory retention skills to memorize weekly ad prices and specials.
