Prepared Foods Hot Bar Cook
Prepares high-quality foods for the Prepared dept. that are consistent with Whole Foods Market’s quality goals. Maintains a positive company image by providing courteous, friendly, and efficient customer service. Supports the Prepared Foods Team Leader and Regional Coordinator in maintaining regional standards. Duties and Responsibilities: 1. Prepares raw materials according to company specifications and recipes and maintains consistency in food quality standards. 2. Labels, dates, covers, and rotates all products in the kitchen walk-in cooler. 3. Maintains clean and sanitary conditions in the preparation and hot case areas. 4. Learns and uses all kitchen equipment. Uses preventative and safety measures at all times 5. Follows and complies with all applicable health and sanitation procedures and adheres to safe work practices. 6. Maintains full levels in the soup and hot cases. 7. Performs other duties as assigned by the Prepared Foods Team Leader, Associate Team Leader, or Supervisor.
REQUIREMENTS
1. Ability to follow instructions and established procedures. 2. Knowledgeably communicate the product line to the customer. 3. Ability to understand customers’ needs. 4. Ability to perform simple math operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division). 5. Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with other Team Members and leadership. 6. Ability to understand and complete departmental transfers. Physical Requirements: 1. Must be 18 years or older and work up to a maximum of 8-10 hours per day. 2. Stand and walk for extended periods of time up to 4 hours without a break. 3. Bend and stoop to grasp objects and climb ladders. 4. Bend and lift loads, not to exceed 50 pounds, unassisted. 5. Push and pull carts, weighing up to 100 pounds, unassisted. 6. Good sense of taste and smell to be able to determine product quality. 7. Ability to visually examine products for quality and freshness and to check signage and labeling for accurate pricing. 8. Demonstrated proficiency in the proper use of a dumpster, baler, knives, and all related equipment. Work Environment 1. Environmental exposure: temperature extremes (coolers, freezer, outdoors) 2. Work in a moderately noisy environment. 3. Work on a variety of floor surfaces including tile and concrete. Physical Requirements: 1. Must be 18 years or older and work up to a maximum of 8-10 hours per day. 2. Stand and walk for extended periods of time up to 4 hours without a break. 3. Provides ideas and suggestions that contribute to the growth of the team and/or improve kitchen operations and work environment. 5. Carry out duties in a timely manner.
