Floral Specialist

General Summary Perform all functions relating to floral arranging and merchandising in the produce department. Provide outstanding customer service. Principle Duties and Responsibilities: 1. Provide excellent customer service. 2. Knowledge of flowers and floral materials. 3. Purchase flowers and floral materials. 4. Prepare and arrange flowers. 5. Responsible for proper signage placement. 6. Maximize sales potential through effective and proper procedures for prepping, storing, rotating and stocking product and merchandising. 7. Understand and perform applicable opening, mid, and closing duties. 8. Read and keep informed on regional weekly memos and team memos as needed. 9. Keep abreast of current market conditions related to floral and communicate them to customers as appropriate 10. Provide courteous and proper customer service when answering the phones and pages. 11. Understand and help avoid spoilage and supply waste. 12. Clean department continuously and maintain sweep logs. 13. Comply with all state and federal health and safety codes. 14. Perform other duties, as assigned by Team and Store Leadership.
REQUIREMENTS
Knowledge, skills and abilities required: 1. Minimum one-year experience as a specialist in floral or other applicable floral experience. 2. Analytical ability and proficiency in math needed to calculate margins, monitor profitability, and manage inventory. 3. Comprehensive product knowledge 4. Excellent organizational skills. 5. Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to train others. 6. Demonstrated decision-making ability, and leadership skills 7. Basic computer skills 8. Ability to perform physical requirements of position (see below). 9. Proper use of box cutter and other opening devices. 10. Proper use of baler (must be 18 years of age or older) 11. Ability to work well with others. 12. Able to work a flexible schedule based on the needs of the store, including nights and weekends as required. Working conditions: 1. Standing and walking for extended periods of time, up to 8-10 hours. 2. Bending, stooping, and climbing. 3. Mental and physical dexterity. 4. Unassisted heavy lifting. 5. Work in varying temperatures (coolers, etc.) 6. Use of box cutters. 7. Use of electric pallet jacks or other heavy machinery. 8. Mandatory use of required personal protective equipment. 9. Use of ladders. 10. Iteration of duties. 11. Proper use of baler (must be 18 years of age or older) Additional Responsibilities: 1. Maintain a safe and sanitary department. Report all life safety and fire hazards to your Team Leader for correction. Comply with all occupational safety and health regulations. Report all accidents and injuries to your Team Leader or Store Leadership immediately. 2. The above are intended to describe the general requirements for the performance of this job.
