DoITT provides an array of services to other City agencies as well as directly to the citizens of New York through the 3-1-1 Citizen Services Center, NYC TV, NYC.gov, and its GIS, Data Center and Telecom Divisions.JOB DESCRIPTION:
Develop intranet, extranet, and internet applications using .Net; Write .Net code;
Participate in requirements gathering process by providing technical guidance; Architect and develop new custom .Net applications; Create and document systems designs and architectures; Support QA in writing test scripts for systems; Work with support staff to ensure they have all the proper information for deployment and support; Work with Project Managers to help determine project tasks and timelines based on function points; Set guidelines and standards for the .Net environment; Help mold DoITT's current SDLC; Participate in shaping of technology strategy for DoITT; Mentor junior and mid-level development staff and aid in their career growth; Provide leadership to the development team; Communicate project status both verbally and in writing to Project Management staff, executive management, and other stakeholders.PREFERRED SKILLS:
Strong .Net; Expertise in writing enterprise systems in C#; Database experience with SQL Server; Experience with object-oriented development using UML; Experience architecting and designing large-scale systems; 5-8 years of development experience; Experience managing a team of developers; Strong knowledge of SOA architectures; Strong knowledge of XML, XSL and other internet technologies a must; Experience using VS.NET and VSS for development; Must be able to work in cross-functional teams to provide the best solution; Proven background in development and deployment of complex operational systems; Experience with SharePoint and with VB.NET are a plus.
CIVIL SERVICE QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
A Master's Degree in computer science from an accredited college and three years of progressively more responsible, full-time, satisfactory experience using mainframe, mini- or micro-computer technology in computer applications programming, systems programming, computer systems development, data telecommunications, data base administration, or planning of data processing, at least 18 months of this experience must have been in an administrative, managerial or executive capacity in the areas of computer applications programming, systems programming, computer systems development, data telecommunications, data base administration, or planning of data processing or in the supervision of staff performing these duties,-OR-
A Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college and four years of experience as described above-OR-
A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent and six years of experience as described above,-OR-
Education and experience equivalent to the above.
