SPECIALIZED SYSTEMS SUPERVISOR

SALARY $23.31 - $34.79 hourly / $48,485 - $72,363 annualized (effective August 14, 2006).
EXPERIENCE Requires three years of experience in the maintenance, administration and management of electronic Intrusion Detection, Access Control and Audio/Video surveillance or Fire/Life Safety systems with one year minimum in a supervisory capacity. Proficiency with MS Office applications and experience in the contract management process is required. The ability to make difficult technical operating decisions quickly, as well as excellent written and oral communication skills is essential. A minimum of two years of supervisory experience is preferred. A minimum of one year of experience with the following systems is highly desirable: MAS Mastermind and Infographics Diamond II. In addition, an Associates Degree, or higher in Electronics or a related field such as: Computer Information Systems, Business or Technical Management etc. is preferred. Other combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum qualifications may be substituted.
DUTIES Supervises the design, maintenance and administration of electronic specialized systems including; Intrusion Detection, Access Control, Audio/Video and Fire/Life Safety. Work may include advising and assisting in the preparation of specifications and operational procedures as well as the selection, procurement, installation, testing and acceptance of systems. Develops and maintains controls, processes and procedures for computerized specialized systems; develops, modifies, and implements software programs; performs database management and systems administration. Evaluates systems and makes recommendations to customers for optimization of system operations, training and systems management. This position may supervise administrative and technical positions such as Locksmiths, Facility Project Planners and/or Electronic Systems Specialists. Duties require technical knowledge and judgment in planning for maintenance, administration, staffing and budgeting of specialized systems. This position may be responsible for extensive contract management and budget oversight. Currently there is one vacancy in the Public Works department.
ALSO REQUIRED Some positions in this classification require the use of personal or City vehicles on City business. Individuals must be physically capable of operating the vehicles safely, possess an appropriate valid Arizona driver's license, possess personal insurance coverage, and have an acceptable driving record. Some positions to satisfy the background standards appropriate to the hiring department. The background standards may include a Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) background check. Moving objects weighing 50 pounds or more may be required. Working irregular hours, shifts, weekends, holidays, and evenings may be required. Must be able to climb ladders or steps to reach objects, and may work at heights greater than 10 feet.
RESIDENCE Maricopa County residency is required within 24 months after the date of hire and must be maintained.
